The magazine: Jammin’

Target readership: Jammin’ is a new magazine targeted at teenagers between 16 to 21. Although, this is not a set age and it may still apply to older readers that have a particular passion with the acoustic or indie genre of music. The language used throughout the magazine stays fairly informal making it easier and fun to read for the target audience. It includes large amounts of photos and articles from suitable bands and artists of the targets age. The readers of Jammin’ are of a particular quirky, indie style and as many are students will have to rely on minimum wage or finance from parents. They are independent but still exploring the world getting inspiration from music.

Form and Style: Jammin’ is an A4 colour magazine containing celebrity news and interviews, gossip with bands or soloists of the genre, free posters, photographs and news and reviews. The colour scheme is typically yellow, black and white reflecting the indie theme. The magazine models will be of famous artists from the genre and the most important will feature on the front cover to attract the target audience. It contains competitions, dates and news on the year’s festivals and gigs, along with juicy gossip to keep it exciting for the readers. The magazine will sell at £2.50 monthly, an average price for a music magazine and affordable for the target age.

Themes and Typical Features: Jammin’ will contain a range of typical features of a music magazine including; news, reviews, interviews, posters, gig dates and photographs. It will have pages helping up and coming bands and artists into the music industry, where they can share their new music and advertise themselves. Also featuring plenty of gossip into the more famous artists of the genre so people feel they know more about their favourite icons.

Potential Advertisers: A range of advertisers will appear in Jammin’ every month, particularly related to the genre and indie style. Such as, HMV, Animal Clothing, MTV, Topshop and many arenas displaying dates for tours and acts.

Editorial Team: The Editorial Team for Jammin’ will be made up of experienced writers and designers, both male and female in order to appeal to both genders. Mostly will be around the age of 25, although, readers will also be asked to contribute their ideas in order to keep it interesting for their age.
