In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
- I have used eye catching colours that appeal to the audience.
- I have included a banner at the bottom of the front cover showing competitions etc, to interest and attract buyers.
- I have displayed a cheap price brightly on the front, making it affordable for students.
- I have included features on the front cover in language that is appealing and informal for the target age.
- On the contents page I have used images as well as text to show what is featured in the magazine.
- I have included an editors note explaining what is shown in this issue.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I have represented teenage students by including:
- images of students to show the age group
- bright colours for fun and enthusiasm
- informal language
- neat and easy layout, so easy to read, so they don’t get bored
- competitions
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Many colleges already have student magazines available so I would have to show how mine would be better and maybe have to have a vote from students to decide if mine was worth publishing or if they were happy with the one that is available already.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Students between the age of 16-19, maybe slightly older if they have continued for another year or so at college. Most students that would buy magazines would be female but I would like mine to be appealing for both genders.
How did you attract/address your audience?
They are students so on a low budget, maybe relying on parents or a minimum wage so I made the magazine affordable. I made used an eye catching image and bright colours to attract students and also features that are interesting and fun rather than boring and formal.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
To produce these pages I used publisher, it is easy to use and have learnt ways to present my work in a professional way. Also I have edited the front photo using Corel Paint to enhance and brighten the colours for a more eye catching effect.
